There has been a pretty visible trend going on lately of products designed to look like clever impostors of other items. I've taken to calling these "Things That Look Like Other Things" and I'm totally a huge fan. Let's take a look at a few in the store right now:

The extremely popular (we literally sold hundreds of these guys at Christmas) are back! Get one while they last! We were pretty sure everyone, plus everyone's co-worker, brother, cousin, uncle, mailman, mother-in-law, lawyer, dentist, paperboy and ex-husband had purchased or received one already but based on all the requests we had while they were out of stock must mean these are still in serious demand!

Who doesn't love these little wind-up music boxes?
Kikkerland does a great job picking tunes- from the older classics like Fur Elise, Happy Birthday, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, to sweet modern classics like Stairway to Heaven, Love me Tender, My Way (the Frank Sinatra or Sid Vicious version, you decide!) and If I Only had a Brain. They even come with little screws so you can mount them on a desk or wall. (Full disclosure- I may have a row of these on the wall beside my loo for impromptus jam sessions.)

Just Singin' in the Rain

Another Kikkerland item we got in again recently that's too cute not to share! Possibly the best of their pop-culture- and movie-themed shower curtains (check 'em out here), this one has a Gene Kelly-esque silhouette jauntily dancing away under the raindrops, ready to brighten up your bathroom. I want this so badly.

On a related note, we don't have much else in the way of shower curtains in the Vancouver store right now, but there's a motherlode of a bathroom accessory order on its way. It left today!

Kikkerland stuff we love

This is a calculator from Kikkerland, whose quirky designs are extremely popular here at Paboom. But it's not just any calculator. It runs on WATER-POWERED BATTERIES! How crazy is that? You just fill three cells with a splash of H20 every two-three months and you're at the head of math class.

EDIT: We tried this little guy out the other day for the first time and it was pretty special. Like, for real- IT RUNS ON WATER! Science, its crazy like that.
